Yvonne Yen Liu is the Director of Research at the Insight Center for Community Economic Development. She has a leading role in Insight’s quantitative and qualitative research projects focused on advancing racial and gender equity.
Prior to joining Insight, she was the Research Director at Solidarity Research Center, a worker self-directed nonprofit that builds solidarity economies. She has over 15 years of experience as an applied social science researcher specializing in labor market analysis. Her work has been covered by Los Angeles Times, New York Times, The Nation, and The Guardian.
Yvonne serves on her local neighborhood council and chairs the planning and land use management committee. She received a Master’s in Sociology from The Graduate Center, City University of New York where she studied for a PhD. Her undergraduate degree in cultural anthropology was from Columbia University.
